Abstract : The ambient electrical signals in the sea in the 2- to 50-c range were recorded on a Magnecorder magnetic tape. Study showed that the analysis of these signals with a Muirhead-Pametrada wave analyzer and an auxiliary modulator unit would not be feasible because of the amount of hum present throughout the original recording. This hum would generate a troublesome proportion of intermodulation distortion and would confuse the interpretation of results. Furthermore, similar experiments are being made by Electromechanical Industries Inc. with superior apparatus.
