Abstract : The proton spectrum for particles in the momentum band 0.4 to 1.0 Bev/c and the meson spectrum for particles in e momentum band 0.09 to 0.34 Bev/c were obtained at an elevation of 3.3 km and at magnetic lat. 48 deg. N. The measurements were made at zenith angles of vertical, 45 deg. E and 45 deg. W. The zenith angle dependence of protons is presented as a new datum on the nucleonic cascade. Experiment showed that the gross zenith angle dependence will fit a cos to the power of 3.2 phi distribution at 45 deg. E or W. It is assumed that a undirectional component of the primary radiation will: (1) suffer exponential absorption along is original path with a path length for removal of 120 g/sq cm of air; and (2) acquire an ultimate distribution (resulting from scattering) at 3.3 km which fits a cos to the power of n omega distribution gave satisfactory agreement with n=6.5, which indicated that the average projected scattering angle/collision is about 5 deg.
