Abstract : A good correlation was suggested between the current magnitude on fair weather days and the presence of a jet stream. On fair-weather days from Oct 1952 through Feb 1953, during which there was a 0.05-uamp current for 6 hrs or more, a jet stream was indicated over the Schenectady area at 200-, 300-, or 500-mb levels for 80% of the time. This effect was attributed to positive charges carried by a jet stream that has previously passed over a stormy area.
