Abstract : A complete provision load list is presented for the adequate subsistence of 3200 men aboard an Essex class carrier (CV) for a minimum of 90 days. The A-ration may be utilized for a period of 60 days and the B-ration for 30 days. Also included are 60-day A-ration and 30-day B-ration menus, a completed general mess provisions report (Nav. S. and A. Form 84) for the rations, a combined quarterly invoice for the return of provisions and statement of over and under issue (indicating that the calculated weights of issues to fulfill the menu requirements are within the allowance), supplemental weights/100 rations used, cubic footage detail callculations, and supplemental B-ration recipes. Conversion of a minimum of 1300 cu ft of chilled storage space to frozen storage facilities was recommended. It was also suggested that 3 or more B-ration meals be served each week during the 60-day A-ration period.
