Abstract : Data are presented in tabular form from a survey made of the currents, salinity, and temperature distribution in the James River estuary during the period March 6 to 11, 1952. The measurements of current speed and direction were made with confined submerged drags. A conductivity-temperature indicator, consisting of a nickel resistance thermometer and a conductivity cell, was used to obtain direct, continuous readings of water temperature and conductivity. The recorded values were within + or - 0.05 deg C of true temperature. Salinity was obtained from the temperature and conductivity data by obtained from the temperature and conductivity data by using curves plotted form accepted functions of the 3 parameters.
