Abstract : The Energa (HE, antitank, T-41) is a fin-stabilized, point-initiated, base-detonated, shaped-charge grenade containg 0.73 lb of RDX and TNT and weighing a total of 1.42 lb. Tests were made of the lethal fragment range of the nose, beam, and base fragments. Results showed the maximum range for penetration of 0.040-in. Dural by a fragment from a statically detonated Energa grenade to be: (1) from 275 to 300 ft for the nose fragments; (2) between 15 and 20 ft for the beam-spray fragments; and (3) 20 to 30 ft for the base fragments.
