Abstract : Research was conducted on the identification and measurement of those human variables which have an impact upon effective group functioning. Completed research is reported on an efficiency rating study; a conference of research administrators in May 1952 (Wechsler, I.R. and Brown, Paula, editors, Evaluating Research and Development, Univ. of Calif., Los Angeles, 1953); a multirelational sociometric survey technique; job satisfaction, productivity, and morale; developing social sensitivity in leaders; a clinical rating study; and a scientific attitude study. Progress reports are presented on the social system of a laboratory; social sensitivity in participative discussion groups; flexibility in leadership; the relationship between human organizations research and industry; and the criterion problem.
