Abstract : Experimental work in determining the usefulness of various theories for the near-zone field was extended to aperture dimensions of 36 wave lengths for the tangential electric field. The range of data was also extended for other components, particularly the tangential magnetic field. The circular aperture considered lies in an infinitely thin surface with infinite conductivity. Numerical evaluation of the theoretical expressions for the near-zone field was obtained only for the principal E and H planes. Some of the measurements were made by means of the half-space technique.
